Turkey Bowl '09

Thanks to all the boys who came out to brave the cold for the
16th annual Steve McDermott Turkey Bowl!!!
It was so fun to see everyone back in their cleats running after each other again!!! (Sometimes I miss watching the Rugby games!!!)  I filmed the whole game for Stevie since he couldn't be there with them and caught some classic catches...Casey... some classic hits...Dave (even though this is FLAG football!!!)... some classic shots of WHITE legs in rugby shorts...Thomas...and some classic touchdown celebrations...White Team!!!

Steve was able to watch the game from the comfort of his latest accommodations in the Rehab area of the University of Utah hospital where we spent our Thanksgiving!  He had his 13th cancer surgery early last week and needs to spend at least 2 weeks in Rehab to strengthen his legs.  The tumor really left Steve weak and numb and he is slowly but definitely making progress in being able to feel and move them again.

Becky and Melissa worked so hard to decorate the tables in the common room and make the traditional dishes so that it would feel as normal a Thanksgiving as we would have had at home!!  Steve had a smile on his face as he watched the Turkey Bowl and I know he really appreciated the ball that all the Turkey Bowl boys signed for him!

We have so much to be thankful for this year!  Steve is continuing to get stronger and the family is adjusting well to this "new normal." We are so grateful for all the prayers in Steve and Becky's behalf... they are being heard and answered!  We also have the amazing gift of a new baby to look forward to 6 months from yesterday!!!... YIKES!!!

Oh Baby, Baby...

Well after two and a half years of marriage we felt it was time to add to our little family, so we will be doing just that on May 31, 2010! Yes, there will soon be a new little baby in our house! Rosie is now 12 weeks along and after two ultrasounds I am convinced it is the cutest little thing I have ever seen! We do not know the sex of the baby yet, but Rosie's family is convinced that it will be a girl because "Fisher's always have girls first," however I told them from the get go that we would break tradition and have a boy first...but I'm not alone in my stance on the sex of the baby because according to the Chinese birthing calendar the baby will be a boy! And lets be honestly how many of you have ever had a fortune cookie fortune that hasn't come true? My point exactly so we're excited for the little guy! To only add to my belief that the baby will be a boy at our last ultrasound the little one kicked so good on camera that I see lots of soccer and rugby in his future. Whatever the sex is we couldn't be more excited for the new addition and are thrilled to share the news with everyone!
